Our Mission

Our mission at the Animal Emergency & Trauma Hospital of Wilmington (AETH) is to provide premium-quality, state-of-the-art medical and surgical care to our small animal patients and their owners while meeting the needs of consulting veterinarians as an extension of their veterinary health care team.

Our staff is dedicated to providing high-quality care for patients on an after-hours and emergency basis. Each of the doctors on the emergency service has years of experience dealing with critical cases and life-saving treatments to patients in need. Our staff consists of individuals who are experienced and dedicated to providing emergent care as the need arises.
  • Our goal is to work with your regular veterinarian to provide access to after-hours care for the small animal patient when the need arises.
  • We operate on a triage basis, which means patients are treated in order of need/severity and not necessarily time of arrival.
  • Services that are provided include overnight hospitalization for cases transferred by your regular veterinarian for continued care of conditions already diagnosed, including continued monitoring for complicating situations that can arise.
  • We have the ability to monitor in-house lab work and digital radiographic imaging to obtain test results quickly to help guide treatment plans.
  • Emergency surgery is performed in those situations where time is of the essence and the condition can just not wait until the next day.
  • We also have an intensive care unit with a dedicated staff member in order to provide continued care until your regular veterinarian is able to assist your patient.
